I recently bought this TT Motor with Bi-Metal Gearbox and Double-Sided Axle (1:90 gear ratio), and I am really happy with the quality and performance. I was looking for a motor with good torque for a tracked robot build, and this one turned out to be a great choice. This is not the first time I bought this motor. Right out of the box, the build felt more solid and durable than your typical yellow TT plastic gear motors. The bi-metal gearbox, especially with steel-reinforced gears is a huge upgrade compared to the plastic gear motors I have used in the past, which often strip, break down or wear out under load. This motor feels like it can handle much more without stressing, breaking or overheating. It would have been yet better if the motor’s case was also made with metal instead of plastic also the plastic casing seem to have a premium feel when compared to the average TT yellow motors. I tested it with both 3V and 6V power sources. At 6V, it runs at around 120 RPM, which is decent speed-wise, but what really stands out is the torque. It pushes heavier loads with ease, which is exactly what I needed for the robot chassis I am working on. The double-sided axle is super handy too. I have attached a wheel on one end and a cogged encoder disk on the other, which worked out perfectly for my setup. I used an IR-based encoder with each wheel to track position and speed of the motor. This enabled proper feedback mechanism. All in all, this is a great little motor—durable, efficient, and perfect for medium-duty robotic projects. For the price, it’s a fantastic deal, especially considering the metal gearing. I would definitely recommend it if one is building anything that needs more strength than the average TT plastic gear motor can deliver.
